Promise Not Fulfilled : NPP to give each constituency $1M per year – Bawumia

Vice President, Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia, on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in Bunkpurugu during his tour of the Northern Region as a Vice Presidential Candidate, of the New Patriotic Party promised that each Constituency was going to receive $1m per year should Nana Addo be elected as President.

According to Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia the $1M per year is to help the constituencies deal with problems in the rural and deprived areas.

“Every constituency in Ghana, every year from this programme, will get the equivalent of US$1 million to spend on priority infrastructure” he said

Promise Not Fulfilled

However, according to the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson, no constituency would receive the promised $1m this year even though it has been budgeted for.

The Minister in an interview on Rainbow Radio provided several excuses on why the constituencies would not receive the money as promised.

’So far we have done all the validation and seen the viable projects. However, government has its own priorities apart from that of the constituencies. These are toilets, water for all, one village one dam, warehouses for the planting for food and jobs.’’ She indicated
